Yahoo News spreads FAKE NEWS about fake news: Falsely claims Asian government crackdowns on “fake news” are modeled after President Trump “authoritarianism”

In a new low, Yahoo News (which, if you haven’t noticed, isn’t exactly known for aligning with conservative points of view) is now spreading fake news about fake news.

In a recent article titled “Asian Push to Crack Down on ‘Fake News’ Sparks Alarm,” author Sam Reeves argues that criticism over new anti-fake news laws being introduced in Asian countries are comparable to President Trump’s criticism of fake news being perpetuated by the mainstream media here in America.

“Borrowing from US President Donald Trump’s political playbook, government heads with an authoritarian streak are using the mantra of ‘fake news’ to shield themselves from negative media coverage, and push legislation that critics say is aimed more at stifling dissent than punishing fabrication,” the Yahoo News article states.

First of all, it seems as though Reeves is implying that President Trump, like Asian “government heads with an authoritarian streak,” is himself an authoritarian figure for criticizing the fake news mainstream media. If this is indeed the case, then it’s worth inquiring as to whether or not the author of this article has ever compared Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, to other authoritarian figures around the world, considering the fact that, in many respects, Obama governed with an iron fist.

Second, how does the author of this article know for a fact that Asian leaders are being inspired by President Trump’s resistance to the fake news media? Could it be that the mainstream media really is spreading false information, and that these leaders (including President Trump) are calling them out not as a way to shield themselves from criticism, but as a way of putting an end to real, legitimate lies being broadcasted across the airwaves? With regards to President Trump, this is most certainly the case.

Ever since President Trump won the Republican nomination for president of the United States, the liberal media has been viciously attacking him, spreading lies and manufacturing scandals as a means of discrediting his leadership. It’s worth noting that there is a big difference between fair criticism of Trump’s presidency, and the perpetuation of false information to bring down political opponents. If what the mainstream media was doing was simply critiquing Trump on issues regarding policy, then that would be entirely reasonable and there would be no need for the President to become defensive. But this is not – nor has it ever been – the way in which the mainstream media has conducted itself. (Related: The purpose of the mainstream media is thought control and suppression of the truth.)

One of the most obvious examples of blatant anti-Trump falsehoods being pushed across the airwaves is the media’s insistence that Trump and his team colluded with the Russians to defeat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Despite the fact that there is no evidence whatsoever to support these claims, the media talks about “Russia collusion” around the clock, not because they are interested in being fair and objective journalists, but because they want to tear Trump down. (Related: The bogus “Trump-Russia collusion” story is nothing but a political hatchet job cooked up by Obama loyalist John Brennan.)

What’s worse is that while the lying, fake news mainstream media constantly talks about the so-called “Russia collusion scandal,” they simultaneously ignore news that suggests that President Trump is innocent. As Fox News reported last month, after the news broke that the House Intelligence Committee found no evidence of any Russian collusion within the Trump campaign, “CBS’s ‘Evening News’ spent only 31 seconds on the story, ABC’s ‘World News Tonight’ covered the news for 27 seconds and NBC’s ‘Nightly News’ didn’t even mention the news, according to the Media Research Center.”

When President Trump condemns the mainstream media, he’s not doing it because he can’t handle criticism of his policies; he’s doing it because he wants to defend himself against blatant lies and false information meant to destroy his reputation and his presidency.
