Left-wing media now blaming Trump for Puerto Rico hurricane damage… is EVERYTHING his fault?

Don’t look now, but the Alt-Left now has something new to blame on President Donald J. Trump: The damage inflicted on Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria. Some guys just can’t catch a break.

As reported by PJ Media, the so-called “talking points” that everyone knows exists within the legacy, establishment media were thus: The president’s response to both Maria and Hurricane Irma were every bit as bad as that of President George W. Bush’s lack of timely response to Hurricane Katrina.

As noted on social sites and in published reports, it was clear that marching orders had been given and the narrative was being crafted:

And this from CNBC’s Washington hack, John Harwood:

There are more — many more — and you can see them here. But there are three points to be made here.

The first one is that even if Trump had ordered a fleet of cargo ships to stand by with all sorts of basic foodstuffs, generators, and medical supplies, they couldn’t have docked because the island’s ports were choked with debris, as The Associated Press reported. So anything shy of a massive airdrop on the scale of the Berlin Airlift or the sudden invention of a Star Trek-type of transporter was going to come up short of the unrealistic goal of needed supplies immediately showing up on the ravaged island.

The second point is this: This fake news narrative was created out of whole cloth by people who claim to be journalists, which means they’re supposed to be in the accuracy business. It’s not like they can’t have an opinion — and they hate Trump. Got it. But hating Trump does not give a media hack license to outright lie about a subject or an issue.

Third, it is beyond pathetic that these clowns have the temerity to use massive devastation and death as a political tool with which to strike the president. The Alt-Left did the same thing when Katrina hit, and while it was actually the Federal Emergency Management Agency that failed in its response efforts, the White House got the blame — like Bush himself was supposed to be driving the trucks and flying in the supplies himself. It was appalling then, and it’s appalling now. (Related: Geraldo hits back at critics of Trump’s $1 million donation to Harvey victims)

As to the second point — accuracy — while the media hacks push their lie, leaders on the ground who have been dealing with the administration are saying something completely different.

Let’s start with Puerto Rico. In an interview with PBS Newshour, whose correspondents were no doubt hoping the lie was true, asked PR Gov. Ricardo Rossello how Washington’s response was going just a few days after the storm hit:

JOHN YANG: Governor, are you getting all the aid you need or getting it fast enough from the states?

GOV. RICARDO ROSSELLO: First of all, we are very grateful for the administration. They have responded quickly.

The president has been very attentive to the situation, personally calling me several times. FEMA and the FEMA director have been here in Puerto Rico twice. As a matter of fact, they were here with us today, making sure that all the resources in FEMA were working in conjunction with the central government.

We have been working together. We have been getting results. The magnitude of this catastrophe is enormous. This is going to take a lot of help, a lot of collaboration.

Opps. For every Left-wing media #TrumpHate narrative, there is always the truth.

There’s more. Right after the first of these major storms — Hurricane Harvey — struck Texas, the media hacks jumped on the “Bush-Katrina” narrative. Texas leaders hit back immediately, praising the Trump administration’s response and actually hitting back at critics.

“But I will say this, and I’d say it’s down to politics in all of this. But for anyone to criticize the president or anyone else, this is not the time. First of all, he has really been on top of this with Gov. Abbott, I can tell you,” said Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said. “The president has approached this as a businessman and gone into action.”
